CFS certification is recognised on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) as a Level 8 qualification. The SCQF is one of the national qualifications frameworks in the UK. The SCQF is a partnership between the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), College Development Network, the Scottish Qualifications Authority and Universities Scotland. The CFS certification is also recognised as a Level 5 qualification in the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

What will I learn?

CFS certification provides you with skills that are at the cutting edge of financial management practices. You will get the opportunity to learn the basic theory and analytical skills that are much-needed for working capital management. You will examine the workings and efficiency of capital markets and you will master the principles of capital structure. You will be able to perform business valuations using simulated cases. You will learn how to evaluate business mergers and acquisition decisions. You will analyse company restructuring alternatives and make smart investment appraisal decisions. You will also enjoy an introduction to the fundamental concepts of Islamic finance.

How to complete CFS?


In order to achieve the CFS credential, you need to pass a computer based MCQ exam. Duration of the exam is 60 minutes and total mark is 100. You will need to get minimum 50% marks to pass the exam. If you fail, you can always resit the exam at a convenient time.

Re-sit exams

If you unfortunately fail in your first exam attempt, you will be allowed four re-sit exam opportunities. That is, you will have total five exam attempts to successfully complete the certification. However, all re-sit exams must be taken within two years from your first exam attempt date.


CFS exam fee is payable through Pearson VUE web account. If you fail in your first exam, you can always resit by paying only £29. If you are studying with a registered centre, you will need to pay tuition fees to the centre.
