Certified Finance Specialist (CFS) qualification is aimed at aspiring and practicing finance professionals. CFS develops your knowledge in corporate finance, capital budgeting, working capital management and risk management. CFS designation sets an expertise-benchmark for financial management. CFS is quality assured and credit rated by Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) at Level 8 on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) with 40 credit points.

Duration & Preparation

Total time to complete the CFS qualification will depend on your background and willingness. Exam can be taken any time of the year. Hence, you can take whatever time you feel appropriate for your preparation.

Our course book is sufficient to ensure exam success as we do not set any MCQ outside the content of the course book. Our practice questions are important to assess your own progress and preparation.

If we have ‘CFS training centre’ in your location, you will have to study with the centre. If we don’t have a centre’ in your location, only then you can study independently.

Who is it for?

There are no formal entry requirements for the CFS qualification. This is open to all – from school leavers to post graduates and employees who want to increase their knowledge and skills in financial management. However, it may be of particular interest to:

Financial managers who take regular financial decisions for business

A university student considering careers in the field of finance and/or further study

An individual with a general interest in finance and business

How to complete CFS?

Step 1: Registration

Step 2: Study
If we have a registered training centre near your location, you will have to study with the centre. If we don’t have a training centre in your location, only then we will share free coursebook with you to study independently.

Step 3: Exam 
Once your preparation is complete, you can take IQN exams any time of the year. IQN exams are available in 175 countries through Pearson VUE Test Centres.


There is only one exam to qualify for the CFS qualification. There will be total 40 MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions). Each MCQ will carry 2.5 marks and total marks is 100. Duration of the exam is 60 minutes. You will need to get minimum 60% marks to pass the exam. If you fail, you can always resit the exam.  There is no restriction on the number of resit you can attempt.

Our exam fee is £129 and payable through Pearson VUE web account. Exam fees become due only when you decide to take the exam. If you fail your first exam, you can resit by paying only £49.

If we have a training centre in your location, you will have to study with the support from one of our registered training centres. The training centre will provide study support and exam preparation classes for CFS. Tuition fees set by the training centre are in addition to IQN exam fees payable through Pearson VUE. We do not allow any ‘independent learning’ in locations where we have registered training provider for the ‘CFS’ qualification.

New Exam Structure from 1 February 2018

For CFS qualification, new exam structure will be introduced on 01 February 2018:

▪ There will be total 35 MCQs in finance exam
▪ Minimum pass mark will be 50%
▪ The duration of the exam will remain 60 minutes

31 January 2018 is the last date for CFS exam based on current edition of coursebook. After this cut-off date, CFS exam will be based on new edition of CFS coursebook and content.

How it impacts you?
If you are already studying: If you are currently taking preparation for finance exam, you are strongly recommended to complete your exam by 31 January 2018. If you are unable to pass the exam by 31 January 2018, you will ‘automatically’ be transferred to new exam structure and will be required to study new edition of coursebook.
