Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a proactive approach to learning and development that enables individuals to continually enhance their skills, knowledge, and professional capabilities throughout their careers. CPD activities can range from formal education to informal learning opportunities. These activities help professionals maintain and improve their competence, stay current with industry trends, and progress in their careers. CPD can include:

• Training, Workshops and seminars
• Online courses, e-learning, and webinars
• Conferences, symposiums, and industry events
• Professional networking and roundtable discussions
• Self-directed learning (e.g., reading journals, research papers, or industry publications)
• Structured coaching and mentoring sessions
• Workplace projects, assignments, and on-the-job training
• Formal education courses (e.g., diplomas, certificates)
• Assessments, evaluations, and feedback sessions

CPD points, hours, and credits are ways to measure professional learning and training.

• CPD Hours: These represent the actual time spent on learning activities, such as attending workshops or completing courses.
• CPD Points or CPD Credits: These are typically aligned with CPD hours in a 1:1 ratio, meaning 1 CPD point usually equals 1 CPD hour.

Please note that if your CPD activity lasts less than one hour, it is classified as a short activity and should be registered as MicroCPD.
