MicroCPD combines the principles of MicroLearning and CPD (Continual Professional Development). MicroCPD entails short, targeted learning activities designed to enhance professional skills and knowledge in a concise and accessible format.
MicroCPD is a unique approach developed by IQN that combines the benefits of MicroLearning and CPD/CPE. This innovative model offers concise, impactful learning experiences that professionals can easily integrate into their busy schedules.
As a registered MicroCPD provider, you will receive a digital MicroCPD Provider Badge. This badge can be prominently displayed on any of your marketing materials, representing your commitment to supporting continuous, targeted learning for professionals.
If your organisation issues certificates of participation or attendance, the MicroCPD Provider Badge can also be included in your in-house certificates. This addition further validates the quality of your offerings and highlights that your activities meet IQN's MicroCPD criteria.
By becoming a registered MicroCPD provider, your learning activities will be featured on the IQN website, enhancing their reach to a global audience. Additionally, your organisation will be listed as a Registered MicroCPD Provider, showcasing your commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible learning experiences.
Not all of your learning activities will qualify as MicroCPD. Only those that meet the following three criteria are recognised as MicroCPD, ensuring each activity is concise, targeted, and relevant to professionals seeking high-impact, accessible learning experiences.
1. Short Duration: MicroCPD learning activities should be short in duration, typically ranging from a few minutes to around 45-60 minutes, allowing professionals to engage in learning without disrupting their work schedule or other commitments significantly.
2. Focused Learning Objectives: Each MicroCPD activity should have clear and specific learning objectives, addressing a particular skill, concept, or topic relevant to the profession or industry. This ensures that each activity is purposeful and impactful.
3. Practical Relevance: MicroCPD content should be immediately applicable to the learner’s professional role. Activities should focus on current issues, trends, or challenges in the field, providing actionable insights or skills that professionals can use in real-world settings.
To qualify as MicroCPD, submitted learning activities must meet each of the three core criteria: short duration, focused learning objectives, and practical relevance. When these criteria are met, the following types of activities can be considered as MicroCPD.
Webinars – Short, targeted webinars on specific topics, no longer than 60 minutes, covering key insights or updates in the field.
Podcasts – Brief podcasts or audio snippets that explore relevant professional skills, emerging trends, or expert tips in under 60 minutes.
Short Courses – Mini-courses focused on a single topic or skill, broken down into a few concise modules that can be completed in a short time.
Interactive Quizzes – Knowledge-check quizzes that reinforce specific skills or concepts, providing instant feedback to learners.
Infographics and Quick Guides – Visual materials summarising key information, best practices, or processes in an engaging and easy-to-digest format.
Case Studies – Brief case studies that illustrate practical applications of a concept, challenge, or solution in the professional world.
Video Tutorials – Short video lessons that demonstrate specific skills or techniques, typically between 5-10 minutes long.
Workbooks, E-books or E-book Excerpts – Short workbooks, e-books or selected chapters focusing on a specific skill or area of knowledge.
Checklists and Templates – Practical tools like checklists or templates that can be applied directly to real-world tasks.
This is not an exhaustive list. Other learning activities may also qualify as MicroCPD if they meet the three core criteria.
By registering as a MicroCPD provider, you can showcase all your bite-sized learning activities to a global audience.
